World Card Making Day 2017

Tomorrow is World Card Making Day! Are you planning to make some cards? I hope to get some Thinking of You cards done to send to some of my close friends. I love getting Happy Mail and I want to put a smile on some of my friends faces as we have our own daily struggles.

If you don’t have everything for making a card today, don’t fret. Grab a piece of computer paper and fold it in half. You can cut some images from magazines, print from the computer or put your drawing skills to use. Send someone a card today and make their day!

Have your kids make a card for a family member that may need some uplifting.

Card making is a very rewarding hobby and business! You never know what that card means to someone. Sometimes they will tell you and other times they don’t but in the end most people love receiving a card because it means your thinking about them.

Personally I received cards from my grandparents for most of my life. I didn’t realize how precious those memories were until my grandma passed away. I was organizing my room and saw some of my old birthday cards. Seeing her signature and the cards she picked out and reading the messages she underlined inside meant more to me after the fact. I now cherish cards I receive and realize they are a small piece of time that someone was thinking about me.

That is part of why I love making cards! So these 4 cards in the pictures above were the cards that my stampers got to create at my last Handmade Holidays Christmas Cards class. They made 2 of each design. I wanted to try to go a little more nontraditional color wise with these Christmas cards. They were fun to design and watch how my stampers each put their own twist on them!

Which one is your favorite?

If you make a card today, no matter how, share a picture with me on social media and use #hopepapercreations so I can check them out! I should dig up some of my first cards I made, they weren’t anywhere close to looking like the ones above. We all start from the bottom up and build on our skills. Want to learn more about card making then keep an eye out for my to go classes. They classes will have a pdf with photos and instructions.

Have a great World Card Making Day!!

Give Thanks Treat Bags

I love that the weather has turned a little cooler. I never look forward to Winter but love the sweater weather in Fall. I wanted to come back and show you one of the projects we created at my Autumn Stamp Camp. This project was fun to do and is so easy!

We used the 3×6″ cellophane bags from Stampin’ Up! and my mom made two kinds of Autumny flavored Chex Mix: Pumpkin Pie and Cranberry Orange. We filled the bags part way and stapled them closed.

Then we took some Painted Autumn designer series paper and cut it at 3 1/4″ by 3″ and scored at 1 1/2″ Then used some tear tape to adhere to the bags. Then we took some Very Vanilla card stock and stamped the Give Thanks from Labels to Love stamp set. Punch it out with the 1″ circle punch. I stamped it in Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie. I also punched out some leaves from vellum and added them behind the sentiment. Then I just used a Stampin’ Dimensional to adhere it down.

You can get the Painted Autumn and many other designer series paper during this awesome sale! Buy 3 and get 1 FREE!! This goes throughout the month of October!b3g1dsp_current_promo_banner_na

Inspire. Create. Stamp Challenges #002

Do you enjoy listening to music or the TV while creating? I love having music on! Sometimes I get lost in creating that I don’t even pay attention to what’s playing. When I was creating this card I had a playlist on Spotify going. What I didn’t realize until my man pointed it out was that the sentiment I choose happened to be about a journey and Journey was playing for the last couple songs! It’s amazing how music can influence us even when we’re not paying attention to it.

Welcome to our second challenge! This Inspire. Create. Stamp Challenges. challenge is a card sketch. A card sketch is an image where you take the shapes & placement and use it as an inspiration to design your card. This card sketch has a diagonal shape in the background with a layer above that.

Click the Card Sketch to go to Inspire. Create. Challenges Blog to see the other Design Team Members creations.

The colors I used were given to me from another stamper as a personal color challenge. Chocolate Chip, Marina Mist and Pumpkin Pie. I struggled with this combo at first but once I started thinking about Autumn I knew the direction I wanted to go. I love that it turned out to be more masculine. I think many stampers including myself have a harder time creating masculine cards.

I chose to use Chocolate Chip as my card base. I don‘t use the color often but it grew on me a lot after doing this card! I then picked out a piece of designer series paper from the Spooky Night pack that with a simple pattern. I cut it down to 4 1/4′ by 5 1/2″ then I cut it at a diagonal.

I took my Marina Mist card stock and cut it down as a card front layer. Then used Very Vanilla card stock as another layer above that.

Now to this awesome leaf! I used copper foil paper and then heat embossed copper embossing powder on top of it using the larger leaf from Vintage leaves stamp set. Then I took the framelit that coordinates and die cut it out. I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back to make it stand out even more.

The sentiment is from Paiseys & Posies stamp set. Inks take longer to dry on vellum so I decided to emboss it. I used Memento Black ink to stamp it then immediately added clear embossing powder to it. Vellum can be a tricky product to use but it adds such a different element to cards. To adhere the vellum I just put two small dots of liquid glue on the ends then I covered them up with black rhinestone jewels.

Who would you send this card to? Tell me in the comments and I will randomly pick a name to send this card to for them to send to that person!

Don’t forget to play along with our challenge!

2017 Holiday Catalog, Annual Catalog 2017-2018, Creative Convention, Designer Series Paper

Well Hello October!

Wow its October already! Once September comes around I swear the time speeds up! We start getting excited for the slightly cooler weather, the outdoors activities like football, apple picking and sitting by the fire. October of course means the holidays are quickly approaching. Halloween will be here before we know it!

During October I have some classes in Ellenboro, Kings Mountain and a To Go class for my nonlocal stampers. I also have a Facebook Party planned, so make sure to rsvp to that at on my Facebook page Hope Paper Creations by Britney Vanderlaan. Let’s get started on holiday prep without the stress! I hope you can attend one of my events this month. If none of the dates work for your schedule email me about hosting your own private event.
October 2017

I don’t do much Halloween wise but I was just in some fun training called Creative Convention by Ronda Wade and we focused on the Holiday Catalog. I got the Make & Takes kit and there was a couple Halloween projects. I changed up the stamp set since I didn’t have the one they used. Check out the two cards we created that are Halloween themed.

This card is easy and fun to make! It has a Basic Black card base. The embossed layer is Lemon Lime Twist. Then we have a 1 1/4″ Fresh Fig embossed circle and a 2″ circle of Garden Green designer series paper from the Merry Little Christmas pack. Then a Whisper White oval and I stamped and punched out the Halloween sentiment from Labels to Love stamp set. I just love that stamp set! It has sentiments for so many holidays!

Product List

This next halloween card is using punched paper to create a bat! How cute right?! You use circle punches to cut the bottom of the wings as well as punch out the head. I didn’t add a sentiment to this card. I decided to leave it simple. The designer series paper strip is from Spooky Nights pack. Do you love the Basic Black shimmer ribbon as much as I do?

Inspire.Create.Challenge #001

Today’s the day! The very first stamping challenge from Inspire.Create.Challenge! The first challenge is a color challenge.

This color challenge was a little hard! I haven’t used Calypso Coral and Basic Gray together before. Here’s what I came up with.

I used the new Year of Cheer Designer Series Paper to give me a beautiful jump start to the card. The card base is Basic Gray cardstock. I knew I had to use Calypso Coral as well but I didn’t want it to over power the Basic Gray and Metallic foils in the designer series paper. My go to framelit dies have been these awesome Stitched Shapes! The stitched look adds some extra detail without any extra work! You will see them used a lot on my projects!

I have a love hate relationship with vellum! I love the look of vellum but you also have to use it in a way that you can hide the adhesive. Most adhesive show through vellum no matter what. I choose to use it as my back circle. I even die cut it with the Stitched Shapes!

My sentiment comes from the new stamp set Merry Cafe from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog 2017! If you haven’t looked through the catalog, check out my menu for the Catalog tab with the PDF! Merry Cafe is a fun stamp set that coordinates with the Coffee Break Suite in the annual catalog! I fell in love with the set as soon as I flipped through the catalog! I used one of the snowflake stamps and used Calypso Coral ink but stamped off to create the background before I added he sentiment. The sentiment is two stamps that I placed on the block together to stamp at once.

My cards are never complete unless there is some kind of bling! This card I used the new mini silver sewing trim from in the annual catalog. Plus added some rhinestones!

Thanks for stopping by! Make sure to check out the other designers!

Painted Autumn Cards

As Summer comes to a close and Autumn takes its place many of us get excited for the cooler weather, the flavors and smells of Autumn and, so much more! This year Stampin’ Up! created the most beautiful Summer/Autumn designer series paper! The images and colors are just amazing! It makes creating cards easy and hard at the same time. Hard because we don’t want to cut up this pretty paper. Easy because you don’t need much more on the card to make it beautiful!

I have designed 4 cards using the Painted Autumn and Wood Textures designer series paper. They are a match made in card making heaven! I have made these cards into a to go class so you can enjoy creating as the weather turns cooler while you sip on a Pumpkin Spice latte or hot cocoa!

There are 3 options you can choose from, but all of them you will end up with 8 cards and envelopes! There will be a PDF with instructions and pictures to walk you through creating each card.
Option 1: Just the cards! This kit has all the card bases, cut and scored for you. All the designer series paper cut and die cuts ready for you. you would also receive full packs of the Linen Thread and the Metallic Copper Thread.

Option 2: The Bundle and all! You will receive the Painted Harvest clear stamp set and punch bundle as well as everything from option 1!

Option 3: This option is for those that love the cards but don’t want to create themselves. I will create the finished cards and then you will get the joy of writing your letters and sending off the Happy Mail!

Please note Stampin’ Up! Policy does not let me prestamp for you. This is why you have the options of including the bundle or getting the finished cards. Option 1 is for those that may have the stamp set already or chooses to use a set they already have and replace the sentiments used in the samples.

Kits must be preordered and paid for by September 28th! This allows me time to get the money transferred from PayPal and place the order. As soon as the order comes in I will begin prepping all the supplies. This may take up to 2 weeks from ordering. I will then ship them out with USPS Priorty shipping and having tracking numbers.

To preorder your kit please email be at Hopepapercreations@aol.com telling me what Option you would like. If you would like to add anything onto your order please let me know at that time.
