Thanks for joining me for another Inspire.Create.Challenge creation! If you haven’t stopped by my blog before Welcome! These challenges have giving me a boost when I have felt off from a recent move. Creating with a challenge gives me a great purpose to share some ideas with you! So thank you for stopping by!
Today’s challenge is a Sketch Challenge. It is a little on the simpler side compared to some card sketches so it let’s your imagination bloom! Continue below to see what I created, which felt a little out of my norm!
I took this sketch and decided to just play with my supplies! There were moments while creating that I did not care for how it was going. In the end I pulled it together and liked what I created.
Started off with a Rococo Rose card base. I grabbed a piece of Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper that has the pretty pattern of white polka dots on a watercolor wash Petal Pink background. Also a piece of Whisper White.
I pulled out a couple stamp sets to play with. At first I didn’t know if I would use them together or just pick one. The stamp sets are Healing Hugs, Daisy Lane and. Above the Clouds.
I started by stamping the leaves from Daisy Lane. I used Old Olive and Garden Green. I wanted to play around with some watercolor look so I put both colors on the leaves. I spritzed them with some water then stamped them. One had a bit more water than the other I like the look it gave me though. I was using regular Whisper White card stock so pretty good for not using watercolor paper.
Next I stamped the rose. Now this was a bit of playing around too. I used like 4 colors… Melon Mambo, Rococo Rose, Blushing Bride and Mango Melody. I tapped my stamp in the inks slightly in different areas. Then I spritzed it, moved the ink around a little with my finger and stamped it. It was un to try, can’t say I did it the easy way. If I had some sponge daubers it probably would have been better.
For the top rose I just stamped Melon Mambo then on top I stamped with Mango Melody and spritzed with another spritzer that had some alcohol and some Champagne shimmer paint. I then heat set it some so I could go ahead and fussy cut it. I love how this rose came out!!
When you look at the sketch closely there is a hint of a square behind the circle. I decided to use that element. I wanted it to be more subtle but it became a bit of a focal point. I used the edge of my VersaMark ink to just give me some lines. I then added Gold Embossing powder then heat set it.
Great tip for heat setting embossing powder is start heating from the back side of the paper. Then go to the front, this helps the warping of the paper from the heat.
Then I stamped the sentiment in Memento black ink. The sentiment came from the Above the Clouds set. I love the saying! I also splattered some Champagne shimmer paint onto the front.
I used the Details Trio punch on the top right side of the Whisper White stamped layer then rounded the corner. I also rounded the bottom left side on the white. Next I rounded the same corners on the DSP.
Next I used my bone folder to weaken the papers in the top left corners. Once they are weakened you can see layers of paper. I pulled them apart more and curled them forward.
I adhered the two layers together then grabbed some of this natural ribbon in the Magnolia combo pack and just folded a little piece over itself and stamped it to the layers. Then used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere all the layer to the card base.
I love how it turned out in the end even though some experimenting didn’t go as planned during the process. I hope you enjoyed today’s card and it inspires you to not only create but also try something new!
