Welcome to challenge #048 from Inspire.Create.Challege! Our challenge is a theme; which is Birthday! I didn’t want to make just a birthday card so I made a project that I hope you will like! It has been on my mind a while to create a Perpetual Calendar so that I can keep up with birthdays better! I also read somewhere that back in the day the Dutch used to keep a perpetual calendar in their home bathroom. haha I just thought that’s perfect!
I wanted to go ahead and share all the measurements first to make it easy to look back at. If you have any questions please feel free to email me or comment below.
Chipboard: 4 1/2″ by 5 3/4″
Designer Series Paper: 4″ by 5 3/4″
Mossy Meadow: 3″ by 4″
Whisper White 1″ by 5 3/4″
Card stock: 4 1/4″ by 5 1/2″
Calendar: 4″ by 5 1/4″
I started out with using some chipboard from a pack of our foil paper. I have a stack of it that I figured I’ll get to over time! Don’t us crafters always say that?!
I cut it to 4 1/2″ by 5 3/4″. You will need two of these one for the front and one for the back. My trimmer did pretty good with cutting these to size.
I then used a hole punch to the let corner of the first one then used the hole as a guide to punch the back panel. I adhered the Whisper White strip and Designer Series Paper down then punched the holes through them.
I added the panels to the ring and filled in as I finished the inside panels. I wanted to add a touch of ribbon to the ring so I used the new Mint Macaron Textile Ribbon and some White baker’s twine.
The Sentiment layer is Mossy Meadow cut to 3″ by 4″. The piece of Whisper White is 2 3/4″ by 3 3/4″. I stamped the sentiment from Colorful Seasons in Mint Macaron. I felt like it was very fitting for birthdays but not in your act birthday in case you do want to add in other occasions to your calendar like Anniversaries!
I splattered some Champagne Mist ink on the sentiment layer using an old Wink of Stella. I adhered the two layers together with liquid glue then Stampin’ Dimensionals to add to the front panel. Last I added a few rhinestones to the front.
For the inside…
I then created my own perpetual calendar pdf and printed it to fit the 4″ by 5 1/4″ sizing like a card front. I will try to include a pdf for you to be able to use it as well!
I added the Whisper White card stock (not the thick) into my printer so print the calendar on. I then trimmed them down to the 4″ by 5 1/4″. I made it to where my printer printed 4 per page.
The card stock inside range in colors (Mint Macaron, Garden Green, Mossy Meadow, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sea Foam and Pretty Peacock) all cut to 4 1/4″ by 5 1/2″. All the colors but Pretty Peacock coordinate with the Garden Lane Designer Series Paper. This is where I picked the pattern I used for the front and back.
I adhered the calendar to the front and back of the card stock panels and then punched a hole in them. I used one to like up the others. I can’t wait to fill mine in! I hope this inspired you to create one! Check out the other Design Team members to get some birthday card ideas that you can create to send out using your new perpetual calendar!
