Inspire.Create.Challenges #003

Is that time again! We are on our third challenge and it’s been amazing looking st the entries from the past two! As I write this I have a head cold that I am ready to be over with. It’s the time of year that sickness seems to go around. It’s also the time of year that we think of the the upcoming holidays and make plans to give gifts, be with family and of course eat some good family cooking!

This challenge is Festive. This was a hard one since I don’t use the work Festive much. It makes me think of festivals though. I love the Fall festivals that go on this time of year. Some of my favorite memories include going to my college Fall festival and helping out at the pottery wheel and buying a big bag of kettlecorn and looking at the oak tree as the color of the leaves change.

I created this card a couple weeks back knowing it was for this challenge but looking at it now I see more meaning in it. My pottery professor just passed away Oct 1st and it hit me kinda hard. I am thankful for her and that I got to learn Pottery under her teaching. This card represents that first Fall Festival that I got to enjoy helping at the pottery tent!

I will search for pictures from that day and hopefully insert them here as to share the festive feel from that day. The kids helping make bowl, the leaves falling and the smell of all apple butter being made makes for a lighthearted festive Fall day.

Here’s another version of the card. I used the leaves framelit to cut the leaf from the designer series paper. I then stamped in versamark ink and heat embossed with copper and gold onto vellum. I cut the vellum pieces down to get them to fit behind the designer series paper.

The vellum did curl up some and I tried to counter act it from the other side but in the end it wasn’t flat. I ended up being ok with that since Fall leaves are usually curled up a little.

Then I tied linen thread around the designer series paper. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere it to a piece of Very Vanilla card stock layer. Then adhered it to a piece of Cajun Craze. Then I used the sentiment from Painted Harvest “I am thankful for you” with Cajun Craze onto Very Vanilla and flagged both ends. Adding this to the card with dimensionals. I added the bow last since I wanted it today just right.

The card on the right I used the same sentiment but stapled it on the very vanilla cardstock before adhering it down.

I think the second card is a little more masculine than the first due to using the Wood Texture designer series paper, no bow and some staples.

What’s your favorite festive moment?
