Sweet Stampede Blog Hop #006: Coloring

Creative Challenge_Coloring-2

Welcome to our #006 Sweet Stampede Blog Hop! Today we are sharing projects we have created using coloring. This can be any type of coloring from Blends, Watercolor pencils and more!

This week my Product of the Week is the Stitched Label Framelit Dies. I will be using them on each of my cards this week. They are a lot of fun to use and add some great texture. It coordinates with the Stitched All Around stamp set. I didn’t use the stamp set this week since I am focusing on Christmas cards to get a head start!

Stitched

Today’s card is a different size than a normal card. It’s 7 1/4″ by 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″. I used the Thick Whisper White card stock. The card front layer is regular Whisper White card stock measured at 7″ by 4″. Before I adhered it to the card base I used the long stitched die to create a border. Creating the longer side you have to use the die twice. You have to line it back up in part of where it was already cut.

Next I stamped the holly branches from the Blended Seasons stamp set in a square onto some Whisper White card stock with Shaded Spruce.

Before I cut out the holly I used the new watercolor pencils assortment 2 to color. I used Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler. The bigger berries are colored darker than the smaller ones. Then I took my Wink of Stella and went over just the big berries.

I die cut out the inside with one of my square framelits. Then I fussy cut the outer part of the hollies leaving a little edge so your eye gets draw into the stamped image itself.

I added the holly to the card using Stamps’ Dimensionals. I used my bone folder to add a little more dimension to the edges of the holly.

Next I stamped Merry Christmas in Shaded Spruce and then it was time to die cut it. The sentiment does not normally fit into this die. To get this to work you have to cut the left side first and only layer your Big Shot plate up to where you want it to stop cutting. Then you will move the die and lie up to the edge stitching. You will run it back through the Big Shot again with the plate only where you want it to cut. This technique does take some time to get right. I had to redo my sentiment because the first one didn’t line up right the second cut.

I added the sentiment to the card using a double layer of Stampin’ Dimensionals. I did this since I wanted more dimension and the holly frame already had some.

For the bow I die cut it from Real Red (I believe). The die is from the Blended Seasons bundle. The bundle is only available until August 31st or while supplies last. To get the layered look of the bow I adhered it to the card stock then fussy cut close to the edge. Then I added some of the Fine Tip Glue on top. I added it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Last I added a pearl to the sentiment layer.

  1. Britney, your card for this swap is gorgeous! Thanks for the tips on the sentiment banner and on that unique, flashy bow!! I am going to write down both tips so I can do them with my stamps.
