Poppy Parade Christmas?

The weekend is coming quick which is never a bad thing! Today I will be sitting in my craft room with some Sweet Tea and creating with my new goodies that came in! I have a fun cards planned this month for my Sincerely Yours, Card Class!

Today’s card was out of my comfort zone with not only the new color Poppy Parade but also the fold of the card. I’m still unsure if I like it, is that bad to admit?

The card has a unique fold that make it open with diagonal panels. To create this fold you score a piece of card stock at 4 1/4″ AND 5 1/2″ and then cut the whole piece at  diagonal longways. This part is a little tricky but line up the two corners to the middle of your trimmer where it cuts.

I then added a layer of Whisper White to the inside of the card from the beginning so that would feel finished while I worked on the outside.

So I knew I was going to use the Poppy Parade Designer Series Paper from the Brights pack since it’s this week’s Product of the Week. So I decided I would start with it at a regular card front size of 4″ by 5 1/4″. Then I cut it on the long diagonal too. I adhered it to the card with liquid glue.

Now what? I felt stuck on how I wanted to decorate and add a sentiment. I decided I would do Merry Christmas from Blended Seasons. I stamp it in Poppy Parade then added the holly with Shaded Spruce (I believe… Just kidding but there’s sooo many greens now! ha ha). I also used the Shaded Spruce on the Colored Doilies and just used the back which was white. I laid it on some grid paper then brought the ink to the doily. This could be done with the sponge brayer or sponger daubers too.

I cut the sentiment into  strip and flagged the ends. I added some Silver Metallic Thread behind it then added it to the doily with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I realized it need something behind the doily for it to pop so I die cut the large Stitched Shapes circle out of Whisper White. I added the doily and sentiment layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals. To attach it all to the card I used liquid glue. The trick is to only adhere down half since you want to be able to open the card. So I like centering it then hold it there and open the card and make a small pencil mark so I know how far to put glue.

P.S. Don’t forget to add some bling! I added some Basic Rhinestones.

So what do you think of this card? Does Poppy Parade work as a Christmas color?

I do hope you liked seeing something a bit different from me. Trying to get used to my new colors. Below are the supplies I used to create this card. Did you know I am giving some of these Colored Doilies away? Learn more below.
