Creating handmade cards is more than just a creative outlet. It’s a chance to brighten someone else’s day. When you send snail mail the recipient receives something other than a bill or junk mail. It puts a smile on their face and may change their whole day.
Take the time to mail someone a card this week! Whether it’s a birthday, a thinking of you or a thank you.
Today’s card was sent out to a friend of mine. She needed some mail hugs and this was such a fun card to create knowing where it was going.
I started with a Thick Whisper White card base. Next I decided to use this beautiful new designer series paper called Nature’s Poem. It has one of my favorite returning colors in it… Blackberry Bliss! Blackberry Bliss is such a show stopping color!
I cute the designer series paper to 3″ by 5 1/2″. Then I also cut some Blackberry Bliss card stock. You can either cut two strips at or one full piece to 3 3/4″ by 5 1/2″. I adhered the designer series paper to the Blackberry Bliss card stock using liquid glue aka Tombow.
Next I attached some Blackberry Bliss ribbon. This ribbon is retired from back when Blackberry Bliss was an In-Color. I am sad to say there is only a twine in Blackberry Bliss available now. You could use either the Silver Metallic Edge or the Classic Weave in Whisper White.
I love tying ribbon like this, I even have a trick. I cut off a piece of ribbon usually 2″ or so. Then I take some more ribbon and tie a loose knot into it and slide the smaller piece inside and tighten. I then attach it to the back of my card stock with some Tear Tape.I then attached the layers with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Next step was my sentiment layers. I stamped thinking of you in Blackberry Bliss onto some Whisper White. I die cut it with my new laying square framelit dies. I also die cut some vellum to layer behind. The layering square framelit dies come in various sizes with regular squares and scalloped ones as well. I layered then together with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.
It was time for some bling! I added 3 of the Blackberry Bliss Faceted Dots. They are beautiful!
I then wanted a simple sentiment inside. Both the outside sentiment and inside sentiment are from the Rooted in Nature stamp set.
I just stamped it in Blackberry Bliss as well and cut the strip close to the sentiment. I could have just stamped it in the card but I didn’t want to mess up my finished card hehe But I love the added contrast it gave to the inside of the card.
The supplies are listed below. I did show the retired ribbon that I used in case anyone has it in their stash!
