Inspire.Create.Challenge #014

Flowers are not just popping up all over my blog posts lately but also on some of the trees here in North Carolina! Spring is trying so hard to push Winter out of the way! I wish I was a bear lol I already feel like I hibernate during winter! What season do you love the most?

Spring time is just a beautiful season with flowers blooming everywhere, baby animals and don’t forget the yummy fruits and veggies!

I’m excited about this card sketch challenge from Inspire.Create.Challenge! Hannah came up with a beautiful card sketch that would be done many ways. If hope you join us for this challenge!

I didn’t realize it until I added my card photo to my blog under the card sketch that I used the same color for the strip and heart as the card sketch. haha Calypso Coral for the win again! You do not have to use Calypso Coral on your card but I think it might add some brownie points šŸ˜› hehe

You can’t tell from this angle of my card but I used a Thick Whisper White card base. I have used it a lot lately but it makes or a great blank canvas!

I then used Petal Garden designer series paper. This paper stack is so pretty! It’s 6×6 and the colors are perfect for springtime!

My designer series paper was cut at 4 1/4″ by 5″ and then I cut a strip for the top at 3/4″. I added it with Stampin’ Dimensionals on top of a strip of Calypso Coral cut at 4 1/4″ by 2″. I stamped Happy Birthday from Butterly Basics using Memento Black. Stamp before adhering anything down just in case it doesn’t stamp well. There are two sides to paper in case we mess up! I have to remind myself that sometimes! I almost forgot I also stamped the chicken wire stamp under the sentiment in Calypso Coral.

Next I used a piece of white wood from Wood Textures designer series paper. Another amazing stack of 6×6 paper! It’s on my next order list because I am almost out! I have used this paper for all types of cards! Back to the white strip, I clear embossed some of the leaves from Butterfly Basics on to it too add a little extra.

Now I know I could have left my heart plain but I wanted to use this cute New York, NY stamp from within the set. So I stamped it on the hear using Memento black. I die cut the heart using one of the small harts from the Sweet & Sassy heart framelit set. I added fine tip glue on top of the heart so it had a plastic look to it.

P.S. Jessica I need to give those back to you and buy my own! haha

I also used the fine tip glue to add little circles instead of using rhinestones… Shock right?!

I finished up the card by adding some beautiful Pool Party Baker’s Twine around the front of the card twice then making a small bow.

Check out what the other’s on the design team did using this card sketch! Also join us in the challenge, you can link up your blog at the bottom of the Inspire.Create.Challenge blog. Click the image below to go to the blog post for challenge #014!

The supplies I used on this card are listed below. If you haven’t tried heat embossing give it a try, it is a lot of fun and adds an extra texture to a card! This card could be done without heat embossing though if you don’t have a heat tool.
