Inspire.Create.Challenge #052

It’s challenge time! We have a color combo to challenge yourself this week! It was a bit of a challenge since I was trying to turn my brain towards Autumn color combos. This feels far from it. I needed to create some baby cards so I took that on as an added challenge. These turned out cute but a little out of my comfort zone for some reason.

You can always join us in the fun of the challenge by clicking either of the Inspire.Create.Challenge images to bring you over to the blog. You will see what the other design team members created and you can also link your project at the bottom of the blog too!

I started with the always bright Melon Mambo for my card bases. I decided just to give making two cards at once a try. I had my inks sitting close by since I knew I would be using them as well.

I had some Whisper White card stock and the Wildly Happy stamp set there waiting for inspiration to hit.

So I started off looking at my pile of embossing folders and grabbed the corrugated one and inked up the folder with Gorgeous Grape. I ran that threw and washed off my folder. I didn’t know what I was going to do with this piece yet but wanted it to do some of the talking.

I then ripped it in half. I thought heck I could use it on both cards! So I played around with how I wanted it on the two cards. This first card I ended up having the ink side up like I planned. I decided I needed to emboss the front of the card so I ran it through with the Subtle embossing folder.

Next I stamped some Whisper White with Coastal Cabana elephants and the sentiment in Melon Mambo. I die cut this with the Stitched Shapes using the large oval.

Adding it to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I thought it still needed a little something so I added a small bow out of the Braided Linen Thread.

The next card I went ahead and embossed the front in the Basket Weave. I then tried playing with the corrugated element and it was throwing me off. I decided to turn it to the unlinked side. I liked it, it showed a hint of the ink on the edges which I liked.

I ended up adding a touch of Silver Foil Paper behind it to give some contrast and break up the two embossed elements.

For the sentiment layer I did the same as the first one but die cut it out with a stitched rectangle. I then added it with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I decided the bow wouldn’t work for this one so I placed two of the Gorgeous Grape Glitter Enamel Dots instead.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed these two variations of cards for the color combo challenge! I hope you give this challenge a try and share what you created! image2
