Color Challenge time! Inspire.Create.Challenge blog has their new challenge up and this time its a color challenge! Some times color combo challenges can be a lot of fun. This one was a bit of a struggle. I really wanted to use a new stamp set so I grabbed the Delightful Day bundle. It includes a new tag topper punch!
I ended up creating a card and a 3D project. The colors guide themselves to being gender neutral. I tried to do some #simplestamping and not over do it. Now it is simple stamping but the layers on the card do use die cuts. A nice quick project if you need a birthday card last minute.
I started the project off creating the little box. I had a cute seashell soap that the colors were close to the color challenge combo. I used the new Delightful Tag Topper punch along with my Basic Gray cardstock to make a custom box. The best thing to do is measure your item and add in measurement for the bottom, flaps and sides. The tag topper is know to punch the largest at 2″. It can punch smaller though.
I used the natural ribbon from Magnolia Lane ribbon combo to tie the box together at the top. To decorate it I kept it simple. I added a flagged banner using Pool Party. I added it on with dimensionals. I then stamped the sentiment in Mango Melody and die cut it with the Stitched Rectangle dies. I used one and cut it twice so it would be the size I wanted. I added it to the box with dimensionals as well. Last touch was the amazing Glitter Enamel Dots (thank God they carried them over!)!
For the card I wanted to keep it close to how the box looked. I started with the Mango Melody card base. I then added a layer of the Basic gray and Whisper White die cut with the Stitched Rectangles. I stamped on the Whisper White layer before adhering it down with dimensionals. The Basic Gray layer is adhered down with liquid glue.
I then wanted to carry over the Pool Party flagged banner so I added a big strip with dimensionals. Then added a knotted piece of the natural ribbon from the Magnolia Lane ribbon combo pack. Added the Glimmer Enamel dot to this one too!
Keeping this project simple let me take a step back to how I used to create cards with just layers of cardstock and no designer series paper in sight. It makes me miss the designer series paper! haha
