Inspire.Create.Challenge #040

This week’s projects all got some inspiration from our theme for today’s Inspire.Create.Challenge #040! Our theme is Black & White.

I decided not to have a product of the week and just create cards using some black and white. Today’s card is fully black and white compared to yesterdays and tomorrow’s. But they both just add in a pop of color!

Have you ever created a black and white card? I think they card really be amazing!

I started with a Thick Whisper White card base. I then used this vellum from the Grwceful Glass 6″x 6″ Designer Vellum pack. I thought the birds were cute and could hold their own!

I used tear tape across the lower section where the ribbon is and some of the back of the card at the top. I then adhered my paper down. I trimmed the top before adhereing it down. Then trimmed the rest once it was down.

You will want to rub the top part of the vellum with your bone folder so it gets a nice score.

Vellum is a different texture to bring to a card. You just have to be aware of where you are placing your adhesive. You want to be able to hide it behind layers or ribbon otherwise you will see the adhesive.

The vellum has a hint of an embossed feel to it.

I used Basic Black 1/2″ Satin ribbon around the inside of the card. I added a hint of tear tape to the sides to keep it in place as I made my bow. Then I added a glue for to make the how stay in place.

I stamped this sentiment from Wonderful Romance in Memento black ink. I then rounded the corners on one end. I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back then adhered it to the card.

Last I added 2 of the Faceted Dots in black.

At first I was worried about this challenge since I didn’t have any black card stock on hand. I am so glad I had the Graceful Glass Vellum pack. It is one I haven’t picked up since the annual.

Don’t miss out on using items you put towards the back of your craft spaces when the Holiday and Occasions catalogs came out. We have a lot of amazing product in the Annual catalog still that are fun to use. I challenge you to bring our stamp sets and papers from the Annual! I want to see what you come up with!
