Inspire.Create.Challenge #026

Do you ever get stumped on what card to create next? Come join in on the fun over at Inspire.Create.Challenge blog. We share new paper crafting challenges every two weeks and they vary in type from color combos, themes and like today card sketches.

Card sketches give you a starting point of a layout. You can use it exactly like it is or change it a little. This time around I changed it up a little since I wanted to use my Product of the Week: the Country Lane Designer Series Paper. I do not have many heart stamps and no dies so I went with using an oval in place of the heart. I also added an extra layer of designer series paper since it’s my focus this week. Other than that I used the card sketch like it is.

I start with a Thick Whisper White card base. I then had to figure out what patterns I wanted to use from the Country Lane Designer Series Paper pack. I love Blackberry Bliss so I was pulled in by these two patterns. The Crushed Curry is so pretty with Blackberry Bliss. I can’t say it’s one I would have thought to use together.

The Crushed Curry lined pattern is cut to 3 1/4″ by 5 1/2″.

The Blackberry Bliss polka dot one is cut to 3 3/4″ by 5 1/2″.

I adhered them down with liquid glue. Next I wanted to work on my focal point which would have been the heart. I chose to use this cute milk jug and autumn bouquet. I stamped them with VersaMark onto Blackberry Bliss card stock. I then used the gold embossing power and heat set it with the heat tool.

You can see on the picture below that I have some stray embossing powder. If you don’t like the look of that then use the Embossing Buddy before stamping. This will help with the static of the embossing powder and card stock. I get a vintage feel sometimes from the stray embossing powder.

I die cut the stamped image out with the oval from the Stitched Shapes framelits. I then added it to the card with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Next I stamped the sentiment with Blackberry Bliss onto a strip of Whisper White and added a flagged end. I added it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals only on the right side so it had the same dimension as the oval. Then I added some liquid glue to the area that overlapped the oval.

Last I always adda touch of bling and this time around I colored them in with the Dark Rich Razzleberry Blend. I don’t have the new Blackberry Bliss ones yet from the Holiday Catalog, but I think these are pretty close.
