Did you know that every other week on Wednesdays a new challenge from Inspire.Create.Challenges blog goes live? I am apart of the design team and I love it! The challenges keep me on my toes and trying new crafty ways! I hope you enjoy my project today and join us for this challenge using these retiring colors!
I am excited to say that Flirty Flamingo is becoming apart of the Brights family and not leaving us! My project still uses Flirty Flamingo since it was apart of the lovely In-Colors from 2015-2017.
I love using embroidery hoops in my paper crafting projects! This time I used a medium size one. I used the black & white striped designer series paper from the Petal Passion pack. I had it cut at 6″ x 6″. I spray it with water to make the paper more flexible then I lay it on one hoop and place the other one on top and slowly work it into the shape. You have to be careful not to tear your paper since the water also weakens it.
Once I had it where I liked it I took the heat tool to it. Some days I let them air dry, this was not one of them lol I wanted to get my project finished quickly since April has been a super busy month!
After I had it dry I started layering my other pieces onto it. I first created the layered hearts thinking I would use it in a framed piece. Yea I didn’t like how it was looking so this is the direction I ended up with. Still a decor piece that I can cherish to remember these beautiful colors!
To create the layered hearts I used the Sweet & Sassy heart framelits. Sadly they are retiring 😦 This shocked me!! Everyone needs hearts in the supplies! I layered each using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really wanted it to pop! I then layered it onto a piece of glimmer paper from the Myths & Magical glimmer pack! It’s retiring as well so don’t miss out on that! I cut both ends into a flagged banner.
Next I added it to the embroidery hoop with more dimensional!!
The sentiment is one of my favorite from You’re Priceless stamp set. It is retiring and it makes me deeply sad! I love the sentiments and the diamonds since my team name is Diamonds in the Rough!
I decided to stamp it in Memento black and just cut it apart. I love this look of sentiments stair stepped down!
Last I of course needed some Bling! This time I didn’t add any rhinestones, but now that I’m looking back at it I wish I would have! Instead I added Wink of Stella onto the Peekaboo Peach heart and the Diamond letters. Then I went over those spots with the fine tip glue pen to add some extra dimension and shine! I took the Wink of Stella and splattered it at a diagonal onto my full project! I love how it looks with the splatter!! I need to do this more often on my projects!
Here’s a picture of it against my beautiful tree grass! I love bringing my projects outside to nature!
Here’s all the supplies from Stampin’ Up! that I used to create this project!
