Sweet Stampede Blog Hop #002

Welcome to our Sweet Stampede Team Blog Hop! This is our second hop and we are focusing on the retiring In-Colors 2016-2018. Check out everyone’s creations by hopping through the blogs! Our theme for this hop is retiring colors. We were just planning on the In-Colors from 2015-2017! Since then we have learned only 4 of these colors are retiring, Flirty Flamingo is staying now!

Retiring In-Colors

I used just Peekaboo Peach from the colors retiring. I love this color because it’s bright and cheerful! It’s the perfect spring/summer color!

I create a card that has another retiring item which is the Berry Burst finely woven ribbon. This ribbon is so pretty and easy to use on a card!

My card base is Peekaboo Peach. Then I used glossy paper and a fun technique to create my background!

To create this background you want two pieces of glossy paper cut to 4″ by 5 1/4″. Then you use reinkers in the colors you want. I chose Berry Burst and Peekaboo Peach. Spray the one glossy paper with rubbing alcohol using one of our spritzers. Then drop a little bit of color over the one glossy sheet. Then spray it some more. The ink starts moving as soon as you add it to the paper but spraying it again helps it move more. Now the fun and messy part… take the other sheet you cut and stick it on top of the one inked up! Squish them together!! Then I like to lightly twist them apart! This gives added movement to the colors! Then I sprayed them once more but a little further away and let air dry. Spraying once more gives the speckled look, which I love!

After my paper was all dry I attached the Berry Burst finely woven ribbon with tear tape.  Then added it to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Next was the sentiment layered cluster! This was fun to make as well! I used the Eastern Medallion Thinlits, which are staying around! I die cut the large flower type one out of vellum. This one does not fully cut out of the paper so you do have a little extra work of snipping some of the edges. Then I used one of the decorative medium circle dies for cutting from a piece of Berry Burst. This is another one that does not fully die cut out of the paper so you have to use an additional circle die to cut out the full design.

Next I layered some copper metallic thread in like a figure 8 on top before adding the die cut I used for the sentiment. The rectangle die and sentiment are from the Petal Palette bundle. Stamped Congratulations in Berry Burst. Added it with Stampin’ Dimensional. Then Bling! which I just added one rhinestone on each side of the sentiment.

I did let the sentiment hand over the edge so this card would end up not fitting in a regular envelope. Would be great to hand deliver or to include in a gift basket/bag!

I hope you enjoyed my card today! If you haven’t tried this technique go grab some glossy paper and some reinkers!!
