This weekend has been sunny but still a little chilly here in North Carolina in the US. I am thankful for the sun at least. I have opened my blinds to let the sun in while I create some upcoming projects!
Today is the beginning of our Inspire.Create.Challenge #013! This one is a fun color combo that actually coordinates with the Free Sale-A-Bration paper pack called Bubbles & Fizz! In fact I used that paper in my project!
I created a mini git bag using 2 6×6 pieces. I can’t take credit for coming up with this design. I found it on Pinterest from a lady named Debbie Henderson. She has a YouTube video for it. I love how small the bag is, perfect for a gift card and candy or a small gift.
I created a card to go with it. I kind of had my man in mind when creating this project since his birthday is coming up. The paper I picked for the gift bag has all the colors for the challenge but best of all it has bottle caps which is really cool!
So how do we make this awesome mini gift bag? You need 2 6″x 6″ pieces of designer series paper. Then you will score them both at 3/4″ for the top to be turned outward. Then you will score both at 1 1/2″ on the other 3 sides.
Now the next step is burnish the score lines then the cutting. I did use Tear Tape to adhere the top flap down so it was easier to assemble the rest of the way. So for one piece you will cut the two small rectangles off completely. This will leave the middle long rectangle for the base of the bag. The other piece you will not cut anything off, you will just cut up the score likes of the two small rectangles. These become you flaps to help hold the bag together. Plus you’ll have your other base. Debbie added an extra piece of card stock to the base of the gift bag, I didn’t since mine isn’t going to hold anything heavy for the size.
To finish putting the bag together need to get it glued together. So adhere the bases together of the two bags. Then you can start folding in the sides and flaps to complete the assembly of the bag.
Now we want to punch holes into the top of gift bag to create area to tie the ribbon for our handles. I used the 1/8″ handheld hole punch then added the Lemon Lime Twist Ombre ribbon. I had to knot the ends twice so it wouldn’t go through the hole.
To tie the card and gift bag into each other some I wanted to add custom tissue paper. I cut my tissue paper down to small squares and stamped the lime in Lemon Lime Twist from the Lemon Zest stamp set. I didn’t use anything else from that stamp set this time but I love the set and use it often! Great spring/summer set!
Ok now onto the card…
I used a Lemon Lime Twist card base, a Whisper White card stock for the next layer (4″ by 5 1/2″). I like just the small strips of color on the sides instead of all around since I knew I was using a lot of Lemon Lime Twist on this card.
I stamped the same lime slice onto the card that I used on the tissue paper. Then I wrapped the card with the shimmer Basic Gray ribbon from the trio pack in the Sale-A-Bration brochure. I punched out a piece of the Lemon Lime twist glimmer paper from Myths & Magic glimmer pack using the Starburst punch. I layered that on with Stampin’ Dimensional.
The bottle was cut from the Bubbles & Fizz designer series paper pack and I just adhered it to the glimmer paper. I used my Fine Tip glue to add a little texture to the lime on the bottle. For the sentiment I used the stamp set Mixed Drinks and stamped it in Basic Black and free hand cut it out. Added mini Stampin’ Dimensional to the back of the sentiment to make sure they popped off the card. For my extra bling I added the Tutti-Frutti adhesive backed sequins all around the card.
