Challenges, Designer Series Paper, Occasions 2018, Sale-A-Bration 2018

Valentine’s Day!!

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Make sure to tell those you love that you are thinking about them and love them! Sending a card is a plus! hehe I am excited to share this project with you today! It is a mixture of a card and mini album.

I was inspired by two paper crafting challenges! The card sketch from TGIF and the theme of Valentine’s Day and use of sequins from the new Festive Friday!!

Here’s a first look at my project. I wanted to make a shaker for my use of sequins. Then I decided I wanted a more 3D look to my heart instead of just cutting my window into the front of project.

I have created a pocket using the Tutti-Frutti card base from the Sale-A-Bration brochure. I used tear tape on the side and bottom edge. I put the tear tape halfway then folded it up so I would have a bigger pocket. I used the mini striped Lemon Lime Twist ribbon as just a strip across the front of the pocket. Then I wrapped the pocket with the thin Bermuda Bay from the Shimmer trio pack also from the Sale-A-Bration brochure.

I used the Heart shaker as my guide of where I wanted my sentiment. I made a banner from Bermuda Bay glimmer paper and folded it to add dimension and so it would fit around the shaker. I then added my sentiment. The sentiment is from a Memories & More Petal Passion card pack. Then I used the rest of that card inside as a pull out section to journal on and or add a picture. I created a small flag from glimmer paper and stapled it to the top of this card for a tab.

I created a card for the inside using Lemon Lime Twist card stock. I cut it to a regular card base at first then tripped it down to 4″. I added a piece of the black and white striped designer series paper from the Petal Passion pack. I layered on some washi tape in Lemon Lime Twist from the Tutti-Frutti washi pack. I stamped my sentiment and punched it out with the scalloped circle punch then punched a circle out of Pool Party to back it. Layered it together with a Stampin’ Dimensional and adhere it straight to the card.

This card opens from the top instead of side or bottom. This allows me to attach the glimmer paper to the top as a tap to pull it out. Then it opens to having 2 areas to journal and add pictures.

I added a strip of the designer series paper from the front that I cut off and just torn one side of it. Just wanted a little added style inside. I also did the same to the back of the card so there was more space to add journaling or a picture.

I did not adhere the heart shaker down and still unsure if I want to have it free and add a magnet to the back or adhere it in. Last but not least I added the Tutti-Frutti Adhesive backed sequins to the pocket and front of card.

Make sure to check out both of the paper crafting challenges using their images below! Festive Friday is brand new and has an awesome concept behind it with picking from two themes or use both. I used both in mine this time. Then they also have it to where you can earn points and “cash” them in for prizes like the cards they share in the challenges! How cool is that! TGIF Challenges have some fun challenges too so make sure you check both blogs out and play along!

  1. Oh my gosh, Britney! This card design is so cool! I love the Lemon Lime Twist/Pool Party color combination. Adding the shaker heart with sequins to the front adds a “wow” factor for sure. Thank you for joining us at our first Festive Friday challenge!

  2. What a cool card! I love the heart with the gold flakes, but all the different slide outs really make this unique! Love all the little details you’ve added. Thanks so much for joining us at TGIF Challenges this week!
