Annual Catalog 2017-2018, Paper Pumpkin, Sale-A-Bration 2018

Diamonds & Pumpkins?

After a very tiring weekend I needed Monday to recuperate before the rest of a busy week! I have been creating a lot of new projects and I can’t wait to share them with you! One of them is today’s card that I made from a past Paper Pumpkin kit as an alternative. I would consider it a WOW project. What’s a WOW project? Shockingly WOW is not an acronym for something, it just means you get a sense of WOW when you look at the project.

The past Paper Pumpkin kit was Sara Douglass’ kit that came in a beautiful Black and White box. I never did create the projects when I received it so I knew it was time since the Paper Pumpkin team was giving us a challenge and giveaway for using a past kit. To create a WOW project for a chance to win March’s kit which sounds like it will be amazing since it will be their 5th anniversary! They are saying think “Gorgeous and Collectible”! It’s the Red Box Challenge!

I used the black card base and the diamond heart from the kit. The diamond heart is watercolor paper with embossed areas to create the diamond design. I used our watercolor pencils and my aqua painter to color in the diamond heart. The watercolor pencils are just so smooth and easy to use. As soon as water hits it it just melts so nicely. I love the look it gives. I went darker in some areas than others to give some dimension.

I used a layer of Pool Party card stock cut to 4 1/4′ by 5 1/2′ and ran it through the Big Shot using the Polka Dot embossing folder. Then I layered a strip of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper. A strip of Naturally Eclectic designer series paper in the watercolored Berry Burst side. Plus a strip of Basic Black card stock.

I tied the Bermuda Bay shimmer ribbon from the trio pack in the Sale-A-Bration brochure around the whole card and tied into a bow. Then I layered the diamond heart on top with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I then used the Starburst punch to cut out a piece of vellum. I created my sentiment from the stamp set Labeler Alphabet and Berry Burst ink. I cut out out in strips and added it onto the vellum starburst with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

My last touches is always some Bling! I used Tutti-Frutti Adhesive Baked Sequins and Rhinestone Basic Jewels. At the end is always the time to check if the inside of you card needs a layer of Whisper White to make it easier to write on. If you would like a sentiment inside the card always stamp that before adhering it down. This allows for restamping if you make a mistake or end up not liking the sentiment with the card.

My card was inspired by my team. We call them downline but to me they are on the same journey as I am so I like sideline better! The sentiment on the card is actually my team’s name! I decided on this name one night coming home from a day retreat that was three hours from my house. I knew I was about to gain at least one new sideline from the ladies that were there. I didn’t have a team name at that point. My mom and I were trying to come up with some names. Some of the ladies at the retreat really like their bling like I do so I was trying to think of ideas with sparkle or bling but didn’t like any of it. Then I thought about diamonds. Diamonds are made from pressure deep in the earth. Diamonds go through processes to become beautiful. I believe that’s how my team and myself are. We all have potential to go far in our Stampin’ Up! journey we just have to grow and learn as we go!
