My past two weeks have been a bit of gray. I was sick with a head cold then it snowed. Each kept me inside but not doing much but trying to get rest and stay warm. Working on this challenge was a great boost! The color combo was hard at first but that was only because I realized I didn’t have any melon mambo anything besides my watercolor pencils! 😱 The watercolor pencils actually helped me decide the direction I would go with my card!
I’m so excited about my card! I used some very different elements to pull it all together!
I started off with Thick Whisper White card base. I picked this beautiful piece of designer series paper from the Petal Passion pack. It is perfect for coloring and adds such a dynamic bold statement.
I used the colors Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight from the watercolor pencil set. Instead of using water I used the blender pen since it wouldn’t warp my paper.
I cut off a 1 1/8″ strip from the front of my Thick Whisper White card base. Then I cut a strip of Bermuda Bay just slightly larger at 1 1/4″ and attached it to the inside of the card. I also used the polka dot strip from the Petal Passion DSP pack. I glue that strip down first all the way to the bottom edge then added the floral pattern on top.
This card is a little trick of the eye! The Together is not a stamp it’s actually from the Petal Passion Memories & More card pack! It is a acetate sheet with “Together” on the bottom right. I used it as a overlay. This lets you see the Bermuda Bay strip we added earlier! I did have to cut it down to size and sadly it doesn’t go all the way to the top of the card but, that’s why I have this beautiful Bermuda Bay Shimmer ribbon (from the Sale-A-Bration brochure) tied up top! I used tear tape at the top of the acetate piece and needed to cover it up so I tied the ribbon around twice before making a bow.
I also added some glue dots behind the Rhinestones to hold it in a few more places. I think those added the bling I always look forward to having on my cards!
Here you can see how it looks when the card is standing open. I am just in love with how it turned out!
