2017 Holiday Catalog, Annual Catalog 2017-2018, Designer Series Paper, Embossing

Sheer Woodgrain

Back home from visiting my family and having my last Christmas card class in her area. I love having some stamping time with my friends! Today was my day to get some rest, catch up on some training and, chores! My man and I even put together October’s Paper Pumpkin for our Christmas cards this year!

I’ve been waiting for just the right moment to share this Christmas card that has a new technique I learned about at the beginning of the month. In our team Facebook group someone asked about Sheer Embossing. I didn’t know what it was so I did some research. There is not many projects showing it.

So what is Sheer Embossing? From what I got from it, it is heat embossing onto Designer Series Paper. I saw it done in a couple different colors. I wanted mine to really be sheer so I did mine in clear.

I used Versamark and clear embossing powder to heat emboss the Woodgrain background stamp set onto the Merry Little Christmas designer series paper that has the little pine trees all over it.

I layered the designer series paper over a basic black piece then onto a Emerald Envy card base. I did add some basic black baker’s twine around the designer series paper layer before adhering it. I then stamped the Merry Christmas onto whisper white with Memento Black ink and punched it out with the Everyday Label Punch. the sentiment is from the Merry Little Labels stamp set. I did order the bundle to get the punch with it at 10% off!

I really like the look of the Sheer Embossing since it adds a different element to the card that normally would not be there. The Woodgrain background stamp matched this designer series paper perfectly! Makes it feel a little more masculine even.

Tomorrow I have an eye appointment so going to head to bed earlier tonight than normal. I hope you have some fun plans for the weekend!

Have a great Friday!!

Keep Stampin’
